Colorado Avalanche prospect Conor Timmins will not participate in on-ice activities during the 2018 Vegas Rookie Faceoff.

"Conor still has concussion-like symptoms," Avalanche assistant general manager Craig Billington said of the defenseman. "He has made a lot of progress throughout the summer and [we will] monitor that. He is in the proper protocol and procedure medically and we will just keep working with him."

Timmins, the Avalanche's second selection (32nd overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft, attended the team's development camp earlier this summer but did not participate in on-ice activities due to concussion symptoms.

"Concussions are challenging to timeline but I know things have been progressing positively," Billington added. "It's a good sign and we will go from there."

Timmins recorded 41 points (eight goals, 33 assists) in 36 regular season contests with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League last season and earned a gold medal with Team Canada at the World Junior Championship. The blueliner recorded five points (one goal, four assists) in seven games at the tournament.
