Avalanche Farm Report: Oct. 2

Spotlight On: Nick Henry, RW, Regina (WHL)

The 5-foot-11, 186-pound forward attended the Avalanche development camp for the second-straight year this past summer, just prior to celebrating his 19th birthday, and was named an alternate captain for the Pats before the start of the new campaign.
The right wing has played in all four games for Regina so far this season, registering three assists. The Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, native assisted on two power-play goals in Friday's game against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
This is the forward's third season with the Pats, having played previously for his hometown Portage Terriers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Colorado Eagles

The Colorado Avalanche reassigned seven forwards (Andrew Agozzino, Travis Barron, A.J. Greer, Martin Kaut, Scott Kosmachuk, Ty Lewis and Igor Shvyrev), five defensemen (Josh Anderson, Sergei Boikov, Mason Geertsen, Ryan Graves and Nicolas Meloche) and two goaltenders (Spencer Martin and Pavel Francouz) to the AHL's Colorado Eagles last week.
The Eagles' three-day, on-ice training camp began on Tuesday and the team played two preseason contests over the weekend. Grayson Downing tallied a pair of goals in the preseason opener on Friday, but it was not enough to defeat the San Jose Barracuda as the team fell 5-3 after goaltender Spencer Martin saved 37-of-41 shots. Prospects J.C. Beaudin and Julien Nantel picked up assists for Colorado in the contest.
The Eagles came back to defeat the Barracuda by a 4-2 score the following day. Prospects Boikov, Lewis and Agozzino all netted goals while Francouz stopped 22-of 24 shots to give Colorado the win. Michael Joly also tallied for the second-straight game as well.
The Eagles start their inaugural season in the AHL at home on Friday when they begin a two-game series versus the Chicago Wolves.

OHL

Brandon Saigeon (Hamilton Bulldogs): Brandon Saigeon has played in four games so far with the Bulldogs and is tied for first on the team in total points scored with 10 (three goals, seven assists). He also ranks tied for first in the league in assists and shares the OHL lead in points. The Grimsby, Ontario, native scored a short-handed goal in his most recent outing on Sunday, but Hamilton lost 4-3 in overtime to the Ottawa 67's. The Bulldogs went 1-1-0 last week after defeating the Peterborough Petes 7-1 in a rout on Saturday. Hamilton is in third place in the East Division standings.

WHL

Nick Henry (Regina Pats): Henry has played in all four games with the Regina Pats so far this season. The forward has registered three assists during the campaign, adding two on Friday in a outing against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Pats lost both of their games this week, falling 8-4 to the Hurricanes and 2-1 against the Moose Jaw Warriors on Sunday.

Russia

Nikolai Kovalenko (Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, KHL): Kovalenko has scored three goals in seven games so far this season. His team, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, is 7-4-1 on the season and is fourth in the KHL's West Conference. Lokomotiv Yaroslavl generated one win and two losses this week. The team bested Traktor Chelyabinsk 2-1 on Thursday. Kovalenko's only game he played this week came last Tuesday in a 5-4 overtime loss to Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. Lokomotiv also lost on Saturday, 3-2, against Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
Danila Zhuravlyov (Bars Kazan, VHL): Zhuravlyov has played in all nine games with Bars Kazan this season, with the defenseman posting a plus-1 rating and five shots on goal while averaging 14:07 of ice time. The team won all three games it played this week. On Thursday, Bars Kazan topped Saryarka Karagandy 4-3. The team soared on Saturday as it beat Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk 6-2. Kazan defeated Khimik Voskresensk 1-0 on Monday.
Shamil Shmakov (Sibirskie Snaipery Novosibirsk, MHL): Shmakov started in his first game of the season on Friday against Avto Yekaterinburg. Although the team fell 5-2, Shmakov stopped 30-of-34 shots and recorded 59:03 on the ice. The team played three other games this week. On Wednesday, Sibirskie Snaipery fell 4-3 in overtime to Avto. The team also played back-to-back games against Tolpar Ufa, winning 2-1 in a shootout on Sunday but losing 4-1 in Monday's contest.

Czech Republic

Petr Kvaca (HC Ceske Budejovice): Kvaca has played in three games this season with HC Ceske Budejovice and has posted a 2-1 record, one shutout, .980 save percentage and 0.39 goals-against average. The team has played eight games so far this season, and its 6-2-0 record is tied for first in the league. Kvaca picked up the shutout win on Wednesday by making 22 saves in Ceske Budejovice's 3-0 defeat of HC Rytiri Kladno. On Saturday, he played 33:12 in relief and stopped all nine shots he faced in the club's 4-2 loss to AZ Residomo Havirov. Kvaca has stopped 50 of the 51 shots he's faced so far this season.

Finland

Justus Annunen (Hermes, Mestis): Annunen has not registered ice time through Karpat's 3-3-1 start to the season. The 18-year-old Finn played in his first game on Saturday with Hermes in Mestis, Finland's second-tier pro league. Hermes won 5-4 in overtime against Rovaniemen Kiekko after Annunen made 23 saves on 27 shots.

Sweden

Adam Werner (Farjestad BK, SHL): Goaltender Adam Werner has yet to see playing time as he continues to serve as a backup for Farjestad BK. Farjestad BK is 1-3-0 this season after falling 1-0 in its game on Wednesday versus Timra. Werner did not dress in the contest.
Gustav Olhaver (Tingsryds AIF, Allsvenskan): Olhaver has played in four games so far this season for Tingsryds AIF. The Allsvenskan club dropped both of its games in overtime this past week, losing 1-0 on Wednesday in a clash against VIK Vasteras HK and 2-1 versus Karlskoga on Monday.
