20210724 Start of Round 2 Picks Sabres 2021 NHL Draft Picks Chart

When the 2021 NHL Draft resumes Saturday morning, the Buffalo Sabres will once again make the first pick of the day.
The draft will begin at 11 a.m. on NHL Network for Rounds 2-7.
Buffalo enters the Day 2 with nine selections, including 33rd overall. The Sabres took two players in the first round last night. They made University of Michigan defenseman Owen Power the first-overall pick and then selected Swedish right wing Isak Rosen 14th overall.

Buffalo acquired the pick they used to take Rosen earlier in the day along with a 2023 second-round pick and defenseman Robert Hagg in a trade with Philadelphia for Rasmus Ristolainen.

Kevyn Adams after Round 1 of the 2021 NHL Draft

"This is an exciting weekend because I feel we have an amazing opportunity as an organization to take a step forward and add quality players to our organization," general manager Kevyn Adams said Friday night after Round 1.

Owen Power chats with Duffer and Marty

Power, considered to be the draft's top prospect by nearly every expert and media outlet, wrapped up his freshman season with selections to the Big Ten's All-Rookie and Second All-Star teams. The 6-foot-6, 213-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario then won gold with Team Canada at the 2021 IIHF World Championship in June.
Power is Buffalo's fourth first-overall pick, joining Gilbert Perreault (1970), Pierre Turgeon (1987) and Rasmus Dahlin (2018).

Meet 14th-overall pick Isak Rosen

Rosen, meanwhile, appeared in 22 games with Leksands of the SHL in 2020-21. He also skated in 12 games with their junior club, recording 12 points (7+5). He produced 21 goals and 35 points in 38 games with Leksand's junior team in 2019-20, the highest total by an under-17 player in Sweden's top junior league that season.
The 5-foot-11, 156-pound winger posted nine points (7+2) in seven games at the 2021 U-18 World Championship, winning a bronze medal. His seven goals were tied for third-most in the tournament.
Former Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller shared a special message to the new picks about what it means to play hockey in Buffalo. It was shared on the Sabres social media channels shortly after the first-overall pick was announced:

As the weekend progresses, Adams will look to continue improving both the NHL roster and the organization's depth.
"I've said from Day 1 that we have to look at every possible scenario and be willing to see, 'Does this makes sense for us and why?' And ask those hard questions," he said. "So, we continue to do that.
"We're having a lot of conversations but if we're in a position where we feel that there's value and we feel it's going to help our franchise, then we'll make certain decisions."
