Rangers' Streak Ends at Six With Loss to Blackhawks

The Rangers' win streak came to an end Wednesday night with a 6-3 loss to the Blackhawks at the United Center in Chicago.
Artem Anisimov scored a hat trick - all in the third period - to end New York's streak at six games.
The teams entered the third period tied, 1-1, before Chicago erupted for three goals in the period's first 5:14, including a pair by Anisimov that broke the game open at 4-1 and chased goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.

As has been the story all season, New York did not go quietly. Kevin Hayes got the Rangers back within a pair 2:54 after Anisimov's second of the night, and Rick Nash's fifth goal in as many games made it a one-goal affair at 11:56.
Anisimov, though, would complete the hat trick at 16:12 to put the Blackhawks back up by two, and Jonathan Toews padded the lead with an empty-net goal with 1:30 remaining.

Mika Zibanejad opened the scoring with his team-leading ninth goal of the year 9:58 into the first when he converted on a Chris Kreider pass that put the Rangers ahead 1-0. Along with Pavel Buchnevich - who had the secondary assist - that trio has registered 33 points (17 goals, 16 assists) in the Rangers' last 13 games, including 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) in the team's last seven contests.
The lead stood until the final minute of the second period when Alex DeBrincat's wrist shot found a hole through Lundqvist that tied the game with 52 seconds left in the middle frame.
New York's power play, which had been 8-fot-19 during the team's winning streak, went 0-for-3 Wednesday night, including a four-minute power play late in the first period.
