Team Notes

  • ROAD WARRIORS - The Rangers lead the NHL in road wins this season (25) and since the start of the 2013-14 season (97). The Blueshirts have won six of their last seven road games (6-1-0), 10 of their last 12 road contests (10-2-0), and 18 of their last 22 road games (18-4-0). The Rangers' 25 road wins in 2016-17 are tied for the second-most road wins in one season in franchise history, and the only season in which the Blueshirts earned more than 25 road wins was 2014-15 (28). New York has not lost two straight road games since Dec. 1, 2016 against Buffalo and Dec. 6, 2016 against the Islanders.

  • Ryan McDonagh tied a single-game career-high with two goals, registered the game-winning goal, tallied a shorthanded goal, tied for the game-high with two takeaways, registered three shots on goal, and posted a plus-two rating while skating in a game-high, 22:25 of ice time. McDonagh posted a multi-goal game for the second time in his NHL career (he also recorded two goals on Feb. 16, 2015 at the NY Islanders). The Rangers captain is tied for first among NHL defensemen in shorthanded goals since the start of the 2013-14 season (four). McDonagh has recorded four points (two goals, two assists) in the last four games, and he leads Rangers defensemen in points this season (38). As of the conclusion of tonight's game, McDonagh is tied for third in the NHL - and is tied for first among NHL defensemen - in games with a plus/minus rating of even or better this season (57).
  • Kevin Hayes recorded two points (one goal, one assist), including a shorthanded assist, won six of 11 faceoffs (54.5%), registered two shots on goal, and posted a plus-two rating. He has established career-highs in assists (29) and points (46), and he has tied his career-high in goals (17) this season. Hayes leads the NHL in shorthanded assists (six) and shorthanded points (seven) this season and he is the first Ranger who has registered six shorthanded assists in one season since Mark Messier in 1996-97. Hayes has registered three points (two goals, one assist) in the last three games, and he has recorded 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 17 games since returning to the lineup on Feb. 7 following an injury. Thus far in his NHL career, 104 of his 127 points have either been a goal or the primary assist on a goal. Hayes leads the Rangers in points on the road this season (27). The Rangers have posted a 29-2-0 record in games which Hayes has tallied a point this season, including a 15-0-0 record in games which he has registered a goal.
  • Antti Raantastopped 23 of 24 shots he faced to earn his 14th win of the season. Raanta has established a career-high in wins in 2016-17. In 20 starts this season, he has posted a 14-4-0 record, along with a 2.08 GAA, a .931 SV%, and 3 SO.

Blueshirt Breakdown

  • Michael Grabnerrecorded two assists, including a shorthanded assist, registered three shots on goal, and posted a plus-two rating. Grabner posted a multi-assist game for the sixth time in his NHL career and for the first time as a member of the Rangers. He has tallied two shorthanded assists this season, which is the most he has recorded in a season in his NHL career. Grabner has recorded 18 points (12 goals, six assists) in his last 24 games. Grabner is tied for the team lead in multi-point games this season (11). As of the conclusion of tonight's game, Grabner is tied for sixth in the NHL in plus/minus rating this season (plus-29).
