'Yotes Notes: Domingue Delivers Another Solid Outing

Backup goalie Louis Domingue delivered a third consecutive solid outing on Friday night to help the Coyotes win the finale of a three-game trip vs. Eastern Conference teams.
Domingue made 32 saves for Arizona, which ended a five-game losing streak vs. Carolina with a 4-2 victory at PNC Arena.
"We started on our heels a bit, and they had a few chances," Domingue said. "The fact that they didn't score and we did on our chances kind of shifted the momentum away."

Domingue has stopped 74 of 78 shots in his past three appearances, including all 10 he faced in the third period on Friday when the Coyotes seized control of the game.
Earlier in the game, when Carolina scored its second goal 90 seconds into the second period, Domingue needed a few moments to stabilize after twisting awkwardly attempting to make the save. The team's athletic trainer briefly attended to Domingue on the ice and he stayed in the game.
"It's nothing serious," Domingue said. (It's) something I've been dealing with. It's a long season so things are going to show up, but it's nothing serious."

• Captain Shane Doan ended a five-game pointless drought by notching his first three-point game of the season.
Doan assisted on Christian Dvorak's goal in the first period, and Jordan Martinook's goal in the third. He also chipped in an empty-net goal.
"Everybody wants to contribute offensively and I haven't done a very good job for the most part this whole year," Doan said. "When you're able to, it always feels better. I wish I had done it more often."
Head Coach Dave Tippett said Doan is setting a good example.
"He wants us to be better, and our situation isn't great," Tippett said. "But this is where we are in the season. He wants to make sure he's doing his part and leading and showing these young guys there's still lots to play for."
Martinook is not surprised Doan stepped up on Friday when the team needed a clutch performance.
"We see him every day," Martinook said. "We know the type of stuff he can do, and it just shows you he can still do it. Maybe he's got one more year left in him."

• Defenseman Alex Goligoski scored a goal for a second consecutive game.
• Forward Anthony Duclair played for the first time since being recalled from the American Hockey League on Wednesday.
Duclair skated 8:51 in his first NHL game since Jan. 18 and blocked one shot.
Duclair notched 20 goals as a rookie last season and showed potential to be a key building block for the team's future. But he has scored just three in 42 games this season.
"For whatever reason, he hasn't come close to that this year," Tippett said. "We're looking to give him an opportunity to show that he can get back to that potential."
• Defenseman Kevin Connauton missed the game because of an upper-body injury he suffered in Thursday's game vs. Buffalo and is considered week-to-week.
"Real tough break for him," Tippett said. "He's worked hard, been a real good teammate all year, so it's not ideal for him. Hopefully he can recover and get back for the end of the season, get some games in."
• Arizona will play its next four games, and six of its next seven, at home starting on Sunday vs. Carolina.
