We've seen rockers and big-time crooners put their spin on "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "O Canada" before, but Alexandre Da Costa's version before the Buffalo Sabres played the Montreal Canadiens Saturday had a classic twist.

Da Costa, a Montreal native who earned a master's degree in violin at the age of 18, took to the strings in the pregame ceremonies, playing both anthems on a black violin.

A veteran of more than 2,000 concerts, the Sony Classical artist has performed all over the world, including Vienna, Berlin, Beijing and New York's Carnegie Hall.
