Garnet Hathaway PHI

Garnet Hathaway was traded to the Florida Panthers by the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday for a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.

The Panthers also received a sixth-round pick in the 2026 draft.

Philadelphia will retain 50 percent of Hathaway's contract; he has one year remaining on a two-year, $4.8 million contract ($2.4 million average annual value) he signed with the Flyers on July 1, 2024, and can become an unrestricted free agent after next season.

"Garnet is a physical and highly competitive player who will complement our group well," Florida general manager Bill Zito said. "We're excited to add his veteran presence to our group for the upcoming season."

The 34-year-old forward had three points (one goal, two assists) in 66 games with the Flyers this season and two points (one goal, one assist) in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Calgary Flames on April 13, 2015, Hathaway has 163 points (76 goals, 87 assists) in 672 NHL games with the Flames, Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins and Flyers and eight points (four goals, four assists) in 39 playoff games.

This marks the Panthers' third trade since Sunday, when they acquired a first-round pick in the 2026 draft and a conditional second-round pick in the 2027 draft from the Seattle Kraken for forward Mackie Samoskevich, before acquiring forward Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators for two first-round picks in the 2026 draft, a second-round pick in the 2027 draft and a conditional first-round pick in the 2029 NHL Draft.
