Messier Rangers jersey 100

It's a brand new look presented by a very familiar face.

The New York Rangers showed off their new alternate jersey on social media Thursday, with a little help from the captain of their 1994 Stanley Cup championship team, Mark Messier.

"This jersey holds 100 years of history," the Hockey Hall of Famer says in a video clip debuting the new sweater.

The new jerseys are a lighter blue with red and white striping across the elbows and bottom. The classic diagonal descending "Rangers" is printed across the front. "Opening Night - Nov 16, 1926" is stitched on the inside collar, which is all white around the outside.

A brick-red 100 is prominently featured on the shoulder patch along with the team logo and the years "1926-2026" on either side.

Just to make things a little more New York, the team shared what looked like an AI-generated jersey hanging off the iconic Brooklyn Bridge.

Messier's speech is intercut with highlights of the Original Six franchise with famous plays and players featured throughout.

At the video's close, Messier calls the new sweaters with reference to every Rangers player, fan and the entire city "undeniably ours."
