TBL@PIT: Malkin's parents tear up after son scores

Evgeni Malkin's good luck charms couldn’t have been prouder on Saturday.

The Pittsburgh Penguins forward’s parents became emotional after their son scored his second goal of the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at PPG Paints Arena.

Vladimir and Natalia Malkin wiped away tears after their son gave the Penguins a 4-1 lead at the end of the second period.

On March 28, Malkin’s parents arrived in Pittsburgh to see the veteran forward play for the first time in over five years. Malkin recorded two goals in the Penguins 3-2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets and now has six goals in the team’s last six games.

The Penguins are 5-0-1 since Malkin’s parent’s arrival.

"I think 'Geno's' family means a lot to him. And I think when his parents come into town, I think he clearly wants to be at his best," head coach Mike Sullivan said after the game. "So I don't think there's any doubt, in my mind, that when his parents are here and his family is here, and he's around the people that he cares deeply about, I think he's at his very best. And I don't think there's any question that his parents are a big part of it."

With the Penguins battling for a playoff spot, looks like Malkin's parents should get comfortable in Pittsburgh.
