Lewiston Strong jersey Bruins

The Boston Bruins honored the victims of the mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, before their game against the Anaheim Ducks at TD Garden in Boston on Thursday.

The Bruins hung up a jersey with the words “Lewiston Strong” and the city’s “207” area code stitched on the back.

A video of the jersey was posted to the team’s social media accounts.

On Wednesday, 18 people were killed and 13 were injured in a shooting at a local restaurant and bowling alley in Lewiston.

Players from the Bruins and Ducks taped their sticks with blue tape in honor of the state of Maine. Signed sticks from both teams were auctioned off to support victims’ families.

The Bruins wore special decals with a blue outline of the state of Maine on their helmets.

A special benefit fund was started by the Boston Bruins Foundation to help the families of the victims. The Foundation also pledged a minimum of $100,000 in support.
