Kyrou, Schenn lead Blues to 6-3 win over the Sharks

SAN JOSE -- The St. Louis Blues scored four straight goals in the second period and ended a six-game skid with a 6-3 win against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center on Thursday.

"I thought we played real good [in the] second and third period," Blues coach Craig Berube said. "[The] first period not so good, but second and third was really good. Especially the second."
Pavel Buchnevich had four assists, and Colton Parayko, Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn each had a goal and an assist for the Blues (27-29-5), who were 0-4-2 during the skid. Thomas Greiss made 22 saves for his first win since Jan. 8 (five starts).
"Very happy with the response," Greiss said. "I think in the second, we came back very strong and took the game over."

Alexander Barabanov had a goal and an assist, and James Reimer made 17 saves for the Sharks (18-32-12), who have lost four straight (0-3-1).
"You can't play a period like that and expect to win a hockey game," San Jose coach David Quinn said. "We went from playing a good brand of hockey to completely abandoning what we did in the first period. Just very sloppy and individualistic."
Barabanov gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead at 3:50 of the first period when he eluded Justin Faulk in the right face-off circle and scored five-hole, and Logan Couture made it 2-0 at 6:31 on a one-timer from Erik Karlsson in the left circle.
Parayko cut it to 2-1 at 2:35 of the second period on a redirection from Nikita Alexandrov, and Kyrou tied it 2-2 at 5:21 on St. Louis' first power play with a wrist shot from the edge of the left circle.
"I thought I saw a good opportunity," Parayko said. "[Alexandrov] had his head up, made a great pass, and [I] just tried to put my stick on the ice in a good spot."
Logan Brown scored his first of the season at 9:30 with a wrist shot from the right circle. It was his 19th NHL game this season.
"I've been getting some chances later, so it was nice to finally put one home," Brown said.

Schenn made it 4-2 on a power play at 19:00 after a feed from Kyrou.
"It was evident that second period, not just the fact they scored four goals, even if they [scored] none we just weren't sticking to our game," Sharks forward Steven Lorentz said. "[That's] something we definitely got to address and look in the mirror. It's unacceptable."
Lorentz cut it to 4-3 with his first NHL short-handed goal at 6:36 of the third period, a wrist shot from between the circles.
But Tyler Pitlick gave St. Louis a 5-3 lead at 14:52 after a giveaway by San Jose defenseman Jacob MacDonald, and Kasperi Kapanen scored into an empty net with 2:57 left for the 6-3 final.
It was Kapanen's first goal with the Blues after being claimed off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Feb. 25.
"We needed to wake up [after the first], and they did," Berube said.
