The 52-year-old will be the sixth coach to reach 1,500 NHL games (682-605-113 with 99 ties), joining Scotty Bowman (2,141 games), Joel Quenneville (1,636), Al Arbour (1,607), Barry Trotz (1,575 games) and Ken Hitchcock (1,568). Trotz was 55 when he coached his 1,500th game on Feb. 17, 2018 with the Washington Capitals.
The Jets, seeking their fourth straight win, are 9-3-0 in their past 12 games.
Erik Karlsson will miss his fifth straight game for the Sharks because of a lower-body injury and is day to day. Coach Peter DeBoer said he expects Karlsson to return at some point during San Jose's four-game road trip, which concludes at the Vancouver Canucks on Feb. 11.
