The NHL celebrates the life of Queen Elizabeth II

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II died Thursday at the age of 96. The NHL released the following statement, and a video from 2002, when she performed the ceremonial puck drop before a game between the San Jose Sharks and Vancouver Canucks in Vancouver:

"The National Hockey League mourns the passing and celebrates the remarkable life of Queen Elizabeth II. She held a special place in the hearts of Canadians and, during her 70-year-reign, connected with our game in memorable ways."
