BOS-OTT CHI-EDM split for Natl TV 102725

Each Monday throughout the 2025-26 NHL season, ESPN and NHL Network analyst Kevin Weekes will provide fans with a guide of games that will be nationally televised. Today, a look at games for the fourth week of the regular season.

Highlights include the Boston Bruins visiting the Ottawa Senators on "Prime Monday Night Hockey" and the "NHL Frozen Frenzy" returning with 16 games and all 32 teams in action Tuesday.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 27

Boston Bruins at Ottawa Senators (7:30 p.m. ET; RDS, Prime, NESN)

The Bruins (4-6-0) ended a six-game losing streak with a gutsy 3-2 win against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday and will begin a stretch of seven of 10 games against Atlantic Division opponents when they visit the Senators on "Prime Monday Night Hockey." Boston has had 15 different players score a goal this season, but ranks in the lower third of the League in goals-against per game (3.50), and we know defense has been a trademark of this organization for a long time. Ottawa (4-4-1) has won two straight for the first time this season, outscoring the Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals by a combined score of 9-2. Every point is huge but getting two against the Bruins as they try to stay afloat without captain Brady Tkachuk would be huge. Shane Pinto has been off to a hot start with eight goals in nine games.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28

Pittsburgh Penguins at Philadelphia Flyers (6 p.m. ET; ESPN, SN1, TVAS)

There are 16 games on the schedule Tuesday for the second time this season in the annual "Frozen Frenzy." It all begins with the Battle of Pennsylvania with two teams trying to get back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs after missing out the past few seasons. The Penguins (6-2-1) are on a five-game point streak entering the week (4-0-1), something they didn't do all of last season. Evgeni Malkin is among the NHL scoring leaders with 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) and Sidney Crosby is right behind him with 11 points (six goals, five assists). The Flyers (4-3-1) won each of their two games against the Penguins at home last season.

Washington Capitals at Dallas Stars (8:30 p.m. ET; ESPN)

Alex Ovechkin enters the week and this game one goal from 900 in his NHL career. The Capitals forward has 12 goals in 27 games against the Stars, and will seek to help Washington (6-3-0) remain perfect on the road (3-0-0). The Capitals have had nice depth to start the season with four players scoring at least three goals. The Stars (5-3-1) followed up their three-game winning streak to start the season with four straight losses before defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 on Saturday and the Nashville Predators 3-2 on Sunday.

Los Angeles Kings at San Jose Sharks (11 p.m. ET; ESPN)

The final game of the night features the Kings (4-3-3) at the Sharks (2-5-2). The Kings got a boost with the return of captain Anze Kopitar from a foot injury Saturday. They've played well on the road this season (4-1-2), which is a change from last season, when they tied the Hurricanes for the most home wins in the NHL (31). The Sharks got their first win on Thursday, 6-5 in overtime at the New York Rangers, and have received great production this season from their young players, Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith and William Eklund. They were hoping to take a step forward after adding numerous veterans to the lineup in the offseason, so we'll see if they can overcome a slow start.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1

Toronto Maple Leafs at Philadelphia Flyers (7 p.m. ET; NHLN, NBCSP, CBC)

The Maple Leafs (4-4-1) enter the week coming off of a 4-3 overtime win against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, which ended a three-game slide (0-2-1). The big three of William Nylander (14 points), John Tavares (12) and Auston Matthews (eight) have led the way, and the offense hasn't been a problem. Getting goalie Joseph Woll back from a personal leave should also help them. The Flyers (4-3-1) have won four of six since losing their first two games of the season under coach Rick Tocchet and continue a five-game homestand this week. Trevor Zegras had two goals and an assist in a 4-3 shootout win against the New York Islanders on Saturday and has eight points (two goals, six assists) in eight games. His NHL career high is 65 points, set with the Anaheim Ducks in 2022-23, and the Flyers are hoping he can get to at least that level this season after they traded for him in the offseason.

Chicago Blackhawks at Edmonton Oilers (10 p.m. ET; CBC, SN1, TVAS2, CHSN)

No. 1 NHL Draft picks Connor Bedard of the Blackhawks and Connor McDavid of the Oilers will go head-to-head for the first time this season. In their four previous matchups, Bedard has five points (two goals, there assists) and McDavid has four assists. I have really been impressed with the Blackhawks (4-3-2), who had their five-game point streak (4-0-1) end with a 3-1 loss to the Kings on Sunday. Especially defensively, they have been miles better than previous seasons. Edmonton (4-4-2) has struggled to find consistency this season, but it has had slow starts in each of the previous two seasons and ended up being just fine.
