NHL Buzz: Zucker out long term for Penguins with lower-body injury

Pittsburgh Penguins

Jason Zucker will be out "longer-term" with a lower-body injury, coach Mike Sullivan said Thursday.
The forward was helped off the ice after crashing into the boards in front of the Pittsburgh bench 10:03 into the third period of a 3-2 overtime win against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday.
"Obviously, he was frustrated with the injury and it was just kind of an unfortunate circumstance how he went into the boards," Sullivan said after practice Wednesday. "… He's a good pro, he understands the game and regardless of what kind of news we get, we know he's going to work his tail off to get back as soon as he can."
Zucker has seven points (four goals, three assists) in 17 games this season.
The Penguins visit the Capitals on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSWA, ATTSN-PT, TVAS, ESPN+, NHL.TV).

Ottawa Senators

Derek Stepan was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.
The forward sustained the injury in the first period of a 5-4 shootout win against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. He has scored six points (one goal, five assists) in 20 games this season.

and defenseman Erik Brannstrom were recalled from the taxi squad and forward
Logan Brown
was recalled from Belleville of the American Hockey League and assigned to the taxi squad.
The Senators host the Calgary Flames on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; TSN5, RDS2, SNW, NHL.TV).
