The LA Kings have acquired a conditional third-round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft and a conditional fourth-round selection in the 2023 NHL Draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Jeff Carter, according to Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake.

Carter, a two-time Stanley Cup Champion with the Kings, has appeared in 1,080 NHL games over the course of his 16-year NHL career with the Kings, Philadelphia Flyers and Columbus Blue Jackets. He has totaled 751 points during that time (390-361=751) while also adding 74 points (39-35=74) in 120 career postseason games.

Since being acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets during the 2011-12 season, the 36-year-old forward ranks second on the Kings in goals (194), third in points (383), fourth in assists (189), first in power-play goals (57), first in game-winning goals (44) and first in overtime goals (11). He is tied for 10th on the Kings all-time goal-scoring list and is first in overtime goals.
