Gritty pulled off his own version of the "Philly Special" for this year's Super Bowl.

The beloved Philadelphia Flyers mascot appeared in the cold open of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Super Bowl Edition" on CBS, following the New England Patriots' 13-3 win against the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII on Sunday.
In the spot, Gritty arrives at Colbert's house for a Super Bowl party a few seconds after his close friend, actor Sir Patrick Stewart.
Though we know Gritty is always up for some fun, we find out that Gritty, whom Stewart refers to as Grittwald G. Grittington, and the "Star Trek: Next Generation" star used to be the in the Royal Shakespeare Company together. Stewart even reveals that Gritty once played Juliet in a production of "Romeo and Juliet."
Gritty also shows off his chops on the electric guitar and helps Colbert get to his New York City studio by beaming him up "Star Trek" style.
The spot comes one year after the Philadelphia Eagles used a trick play, called the "Philly Special," to defeat the Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
