Connor McDavid

DALLAS -- Connor McDavid will not play for the Edmonton Oilers against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center on Monday because of an illness.

McDavid leads the Oilers with 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists). It is the first game he will miss this season.
The illness ends McDavid's consecutive games played streak at 222; it was 235 including the Stanley Cup Playoffs. McDavid, who hadn't missed a game since Jan. 2016, didn't participate in the morning skate but Oilers coach Ken Hitchcock was hopeful that he would be available for the game.
The Oilers are seeking what would be their season-high fourth straight game.
