Blackhawks native american masks

Chicago Blackhawks goalies Alex Stalock and Petr Mrazek are celebrating Native American Heritage Month in a special way.

Stalock and Mrazek will sport custom painted masks that honor Native American culture throughout the month of November.
The masks were designed by Ojibwe artist Patrick Hunter and Potawatomi artist Nicole Banditgrey.

Stalock's mask was created by Hunter and features outdoor elements such as waves, deer antlers and arrows. He wore the mask during the Blackhawks game against the Islanders on Tuesday.

Mrazek's mask was designed by Banditgrey and features floral and bead elements to represent the Potawatomi tribe culture.
"Potawatomi people were some of the original inhabitants of Chicago and being able to represent that in this way brings me so much joy," Banditgrey
told the Blackhawks
about designing the mask.

Both goalies are excited to sport the masks all month.
"It looks really cool," Stalock
told the Blackhawks
. "It's pretty simple, a white background with a lot of red…it'll be pretty unique."
"I really appreciate the detail and design of this mask, it's beautiful and I'm proud to be able to wear it," Mrazek also
told the Blackhawks
. "Since joining this organization, it has been great to get a better understanding and learning of Native American culture, and it makes wearing this very special."
