Nuts & Bolts: Lightning vs. Sabres stateside

Tampa Bay swept both games of the Global Series in Stockholm from Buffalo earlier this month

The Lightning and Sabres meet for the third time this season on Monday night at Amalie Arena. Tampa Bay collected wins in each fo the first two matchups, with both games played in Stockholm, Sweden as part of the 2019 NHL Global Series.

Monday's game will also be the Lightning's annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night with special events planned throughout the evening.

Monday's Matchup
The Lightning and the Sabres are playing their third of four meetings this season (also: Dec. 31 at BUF) and the only meeting at AMALIE Arena...Tampa Bay won both previous meetings with Buffalo, sweeping a back-to-back set in Stockholm, Sweden as part ofthe NHL Global Series Nov 8-9...The Lightning earned a 3-2 win in the first half of the back-to-back Nov. 8, Yanni Gourde netting the game-winning goal at 7:45 of the third period...Tampa Bay completed the back-to-back sweep Nov. 9 with a 5-3 victory, the Bolts scoring a pair of power-play goals and Yanni Gourde providing the game-winner for the second-straight game at 9:48 of the third, Gourde becoming the first NHL player all-time to score two GWGs in games outside North America...The Lightning have won four in a row at home over Buffalo and are on a seven-game home point streak against the Sabres (6-0-1)...Since the start of the 2014-15season, the Bolts are 10-1-1 at home vs. BUF...Tampa Bay has won five in a row overall against Buffalo...Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Lightning are 21-4-2 overall vs. BUF...Tyler Johnson has more career assists vs. BUF (14) than he has against any other NHL team...Cedric Paquette has 3 assists over his last 2 games vs. BUF...Pat Maroon has points in four-straight games vs. BUF (4-1--5)...Kevin Shattenkirk has points in three-straight games vs. BUF (0-4--4)...Nikita Kucherov has points in five-straight games vs.BUF (4-4--8)...Andrei Vasilevskiy is 6-0-1 over his last seven starts vs. BUF.

Tampa Bay has scored 10 power-play goals over its last four home games and owns the NHL's best home power play at 44.8% (2nd:EDM - 36.8%) as well as the League's top overall power play at 33.3% (2nd: EDM - 31.5%)...The Lightning own a plus-13 goal differential in first periods this season, the best goal diffential for any period in the NHL...The Bolts have played the fewest games in the NHL (20) and are tied with Minnesota for the fewest home games in the League (8).

Hockey Fights Cancer Night
The Lightning will host its annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night, presented by Moffitt Cancer Center, on November 25 when the team takes on the Buffalo Sabres at AMALIE Arena (7 p.m., FOX Sports Sun, 970WFLA). The night is dedicated to honoring patients, survivors, caretakers and others involved in the fight against cancer.
