The Lightning will host Hockey Fights Cancer night at Amalie Arena when they face off against the Edmonton Oilers. On this night, the Tampa Bay Lightning will be taking part in different initiatives throughout the evening to support the courage of those currently living with or battling cancer, as well raise funds and awareness for a cause that affects nearly 40% of the population.
All Tampa Bay Lightning players will wear special lavender-colored Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys during pre-game warm ups and players' sticks will also be taped for the pre-game warm-up skate. During the game, Lightning coaches and broadcasters will also wear official Hockey Fights Cancer ties. The team will host families representing 14 local nonprofits helping those battling cancer. Patients will ride Zambonis, interact with players post-game and referees will be supporting the Zebra Cares program. Lavender "I Fight For" Cards will be located at 50/50 kiosks throughout the arena for fans to sign, and proceeds from the 50/50 raffle that night will benefit the nonprofits in attendance.
