Mishkin's Musings: On the opening five

It's been a bit of bumpy start for the Lightning. They've posted a 2-2-1 record through their first five games, managing to pick up five points despite not having had a lead in regulation during any of those contests. Here are some takeaways from the opening five.

• Credit the Lightning for putting on their work boots in every game since opening night. They've dealt with the adversity of having allowed the first goal in every game. They've yet to play with a lead. They've trailed after two periods in all five contests. But since the loss to Pittsburgh, they've never stopped working hard. No matter the situation. That's been the biggest key in their ability to rally for points in three of these last four games. And ultimately, that's the most important takeaway from the first five contests. While the Lightning look to get their game in order, they'll need to keep banking points along the way.
