Off a broken entry play, Cam Atkinson was able to control the puck at center ice and find Claude Giroux cutting in between Cal Foote and Mikhail Sergachev at the blue line. Giroux faked a backhand to draw Andrei Vasilevskiy out of position, before cutting to his forehand and scoring into a wide open net.

Foote tried to step up and hold a play in at the offensive blue line, but had the shot blocked by Travis Konecny. With Foote's momentum taking him forward out of the play, Konecny grabbed the puck and started a 3-on-1 in the opposite direction. Konecny had Oskar Lindblom and Scott Laughton to his left but elected to shoot the puck himself and snapped a wrist shot past Vasilevskiy.

With the Bolts on their second power play in the early going of the middle frame, Steven Stamkos faked a shot at the left circle and sent a feed to Brayden Point in the slot. Point opened space for himself on the backhand and lifted a shot that was partially blocked by Travis Sanheim but popped up in the air and over the goal line.

14:52 Mathieu Joseph (3) - Alex Killorn, Zach Bogosian
Mathieu Joseph capped a dominating second period from Tampa Bay with the tying goal at 14:52. From the right point, Alex Killorn threw the puck toward the front of the net and Joseph managed to gain possession and slip the puck past Carter Hart at the far post.

18:04 Steven Stamkos (9) - Victor Hedman, Alex Killorn
Steven Stamkos gave Tampa Bay the lead late in the third with a goal from a sharp angle off a faceoff win. With the puck along the left wall, Stamkos fired a seeing eye shot that slipped through Hart at the near post to put the Bolts up 3-2.

19:51 Claude Giroux (7) - Derick Brassard
Tampa Bay couldn't make Stamkos' goal stand up as the game-winner. With the extra attacker on the ice, Philadelphia won an offensive zone draw back to Giroux and he snapped a shot past Vasilevskiy to send the game to overtime.

It was a quick shootout, with the Bolts wrapping things up in two rounds. Tampa Bay went ahead after round one when Sean Couturier was stopped, and Steven Stamkos scored. In the second round, Vasilevskiy made a save on Giroux and Point netted the winning goal to secure the second point for the Lightning.
