The LA Kings have signed forwards Corey Perry to a one-year contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $2,000,000, and up to an additional $2,000,000 in performance bonuses, through the 2025-26 season, and Joel Armia to a two-year contract worth an AAV of $2,500,000 through the 2026-27 season.
Perry, 40, skated in 81 games for the Edmonton Oilers in the 2024-25 campaign, recording 19 goals and 11 assists as part of his 14th career 30-point season with a plus-12 rating, 61 penalty minutes (PIM) and four game-winning goals. He was one of three Edmonton skaters to record 30 or more points while skating in at least 80 games. The 6-3, 210-pound forward added 10 goals and 14 points (10-4=14) in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff contests and was one of five skaters in the league to record 10 or more goals in the postseason.
A Stanley Cup Champion with Anaheim in 2007, Perry joins the Kings as a veteran of 1,392 career NHL games, accumulating 448 goals and 935 points (448-487=935) over parts of 20 seasons split between the Anaheim Ducks (2005-19), Dallas Stars (2019-20), Montreal Canadiens (2020-21), Tampa Bay Lightning (2021-23), Chicago Blackhawks (2023-24) and Oilers (2024-25). His best NHL season came in the 2010-11 campaign where he registered 50 goals and 48 helpers for 98 points (50-48=98) with 14 power-play goals and league-leading 11 game-winning goals to earn Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy and Hart Trophy honors.
A four-time NHL All-Star, Perry has qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 17 of his 20 NHL seasons, having played in 237 career postseason contests in that span for the third-most in league history. Only Chris Chelios (266 GP) and Nicklas Lidstrom (263 GP) have skated in more postseason games than Perry. Over his playoff career, Perry has tallied 141 points (64-77=141), with 24 goals coming on the power-play for the third-most among active skaters behind Alex Ovechkin (31) and Evgeni Malkin (28). Of his 17 postseasons appearances, Perry has made it to the Stanley Cup Finals six times (2007, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025), notching 11 goals and 19 points (11-8=19) in 34 career Stanley Cup Finals games
The Peterborough, Ontario native has represented Canada in multiple international tournaments, including two Winter Olympic Games (2010 – gold; 2014 – gold), one World Cup of Hockey (2017 – gold), three International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Men’s World Championships (2016 – gold; 2012; 2010), one IIHF Men’s World Junior Championship (2005 – gold) and one IIHF Men’s Under-18 World Junior Championship (2002).
Armia, 32, skated in a career-high 81 games for the Montreal Canadiens last season, posting 11 goals and an NHL personal-best 18 assists for 29 points (10-18=29) with 16 penalty minutes (PIM), co-team-leading three shorthanded goals and 205 minutes of cumulative shorthanded time-on-ice (TOI), the fourth-most among all league forwards. The 6-3, 215-pound forward added a pair of assists (0-2=2) in five Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Originally selected 16th-overall by Buffalo in the 2011 NHL Draft, Armia is a veteran of 586 career regular-season NHL games, accumulating 103 goals and 207 points (103-104=207) over parts of 11 NHL seasons with Montreal (2018=25), Winnipeg (2015-18) and Buffalo (2014-15). Armia’s best NHL season came in the 2019=20 campaign where he recorded 16 goals while setting career-marks in assists (14), points (30), power-play goals (3), shorthanded goals (3), shots (155), time-on-ice per game (TOI; 17:14), hits (146) and takeaways (47). The Pori, Finland, native has also skated in 44 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, tallying five goals and 12 points (5-7=12), including four games in the 2021 Stanley Cup Finals against Tampa Bay.
Prior to his North American debut, Armia played three seasons (2010-13) with Assat Pori of Liiga, Finland’s top professional league, notching 100 points (55-45=100) in 149 career games. In his first season with Assat Pori in 2010-11, Armia tallied 18 goals and 29 points (18-11=29) to mark the most goals by a rookie and points by an Under-18 junior in Liiga.
Internationally, Armia has represented Finland in six International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) events, including two IIHF Men’s World Championships (2023, 2022), three IIHF Men’s World Junior Championships (2013, 2012, 2011) and one IIHF Men’s Under-18 World Junior Championship (2011). Most recently, Armia also represented Finland at the NHL’s 2025 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament.
