Pro-Comp-Camp

LA Kings Hockey Development just concluded the third annual Pro Competition Camp, the only overnight camp that the Kings host each summer.
Over 55 campers attended this year's camp, which took place in Santa Barbara, from July 15 through 19 and included 25 hours of on and off-ice training, plus all meals and accommodation.
The University of California-Santa Barbara (UCSB) hosted the campers, providing them with a beautiful three bedroom, two bathroom dorm on the UCSB campus within walking distance to Ice in Paradise, Santa Barbara's premier ice rink.

Kings Alumni Derek Armstrong, Daryl Evans and Steve Heinze, along with current Berlin Eisbaren forward Sean Backman, ran the on-ice curriculum each day.
The goaltenders were coached by special guest and former USNTDP goaltender Blake Weyrick during the week-long camp.
The curriculum included power skating, station-based stickhandling, shooting, passing drills, plus a 3-on-3 game each day. When not on the ice, the campers particpated in workout circuits, soccer, football, relays and a day at the beach!

At the beginning of the week, campers split into teams and came up with creative names for their respective teams.
During the week, each activity they participated in affected their team's overall points. At the end of camp, the top two teams in each division with the most combined points received a special prize!
The camp concluded on Friday with a full-ice, 5-on-5 game and the big winners were Team Kingsmen and Team Berries! 🏆
