Recap: Isles Shut Out Ducks 3-0 For Fifth Straight Win

Robin Lehner made 19 saves and Cal Clutterbuck scored two goals as the New York Islanders skated to their second straight shutout win, blanking the Anaheim Ducks 3-0 at NYCB Live.
The Islanders' shutout streak currently stands at 132:53, with both Thomas Greiss and Lehner delivering clean sheets over that span. The back-to-back shutouts are the exclamation point on a stingy defensive stretch for the Islanders, who have only allowed three goals on their five-game winning streak and held their last three opponents to under 20 shots.
"There's no secret ingredient, it's hard work, commitment and following our structure," Lehner said. "It leads to good things and we know we can go in confidently into a game against anyone in this league knowing we have a chance to win and it grows confidence."
With the win, the Islanders (62 points) remain first in the Metropolitan Division and hold a three-point lead on Washington and Columbus.

CLUTTERBUCK SCORES TWO GOALS, ISLES START HOT VS DUCKS:

After an emotional 2-0 win in Washington on Friday, the Islanders made a point of avoiding a first-period letdown against Anaheim.
They started hot, taking advantage of a road-weary Ducks team, playing their second game in as many days as they finished off a five-game road trip.
"It's a credit to us being ready to go," Clutterbuck said. "There's a lot of confidence in the way we're playing. There's a lot of confidence in knowing if we play that way we'll have some good success. Good on the guys for staying on top of it."
Clutterbuck had the Islanders up 2-0 with a pair of snipes before the 10-minute mark on Sunday, netting his fifth and sixth goals of the season - and third in the past two games.

Clutterbuck opened the scoring at 4:50, corralling a Josh Bailey pass before beating former Islander Chad Johnson high for a power-play goal. Clutterbuck followed it up at 9:56, pouncing on an Adam Pelech rebound and snapping his second past Johnson.
The two-goal game was Clutterbuck's first since Jan. 4, 2018 at Philadelphia.
"It's nice," Clutterbuck said. "It was kind of a snakebit start to the year, even from halfway through last year I couldn't seem to find the back of the net, so it's nice to breakthrough here."
Leo Komarov rounded out the scoring late in the second period, deflecting a Devon Toews shot past Johnson at 19:31.

LEHNER RECORDS THIRD SHUTOUT OF THE SEASON:

Robin Lehner earned his third shutout of the season - and 11th of his career - on Sunday, making 19 saves.
Lehner called Sunday's shutout a shared effort and that was clear during the second period. Johnny Boychuk came up with a clutch save on Ryan Getzlaf, stickchecking the Ducks captain who had an open net after Lehner misplayed the puck behind the net. A few minutes later, Lehner bailed out Adam Pelech, whose broken stick led to a Josh Manson breakaway that the Isles goalie turned aside.

The game was 2-0 at that point - and those two saves went a long way to preserving two points.
"Stuff like that happens… It's just everyone backing each other up," Lehner said. "I have confidence in my d-men and my d-men have confidence in me and Greisser."
The win improved Lehner to 11-1-0 in his last 12 games and the Islanders goalie shrunk his league-leading goals-against average from 2.11 to 2.02 with the shutout win.
