The New York Islanders announced today that forward Bo Horvat has been named the 16th captain in the organization’s 54-year history.
Horvat, 31, scored a team-leading 31 goals and posted 57 points in 68 games last season with the Islanders. It marked five straight seasons with at least 28 goals for Horvat, who leads all Islanders in goals (99) and points (198) since joining the club in 2023.
Originally selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Horvat has 618 career points (300 goals, 318 assists) in 881 career NHL games with the Canucks and Islanders. He's added 21 points (13 goals, eight assists) in 34 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.
