OPPOSITION UPDATE
Heading into the game against Vegas, the Oilers sit in fourth place in the Pacific Division with a 9-8-0 record and 18 points. They have lost five of their last seven games including a 3-1 loss to Los Angeles on Wednesday. Connor McDavid leads the NHL in points with 32 (15G, 17A) in 17 games. Leon Draisaitl ranks second in scoring for the club with 28 points (9G, 19A). Behind him is Zach Hyman with 18 points (8G, 10A). Edmonton finished second in the Pacific Division last season behind the first place Calgary Flames. They capped off the 2021-2022 season with 104 total points and defeated the Los Angeles Kings in seven games during the first round. They went on to beat the Calgary Flames in the second round in five, but were swept by the Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference Finals.

KEYS TO THE GAME
Early offense:Edmonton has two of the biggest offensive weapons in the league with McDavid and Draisaitl. Containing both of them will require the Golden Knights to get on the board quickly for a head start against the high-scoring duo.
Penalty kill: Vegas has to be at its best if they are down a man. The Oilers have the second-best power play in the league, so staying out of the box overall is crucial to keep the opposition off the scoresheet.
