The Vegas Golden Knights (7-2-0) defeated the Calgary Flames (1-7-0) by a 6-2 margin on Thursday at T-Mobile Arena with captain Mark Stone recording a hat trick.

HOW IT WENT DOWN
26 seconds into the game, Brett Howden found the back of the net with a touch from Mitch Marner. Marner sent a backhanded pass to Howden up ice who finished with a top shelf shot past Dustin Wolf. Jack Eichel followed up midway through the first period with his fifth goal of the season on a shorthanded breakaway at the hallway point of the first. Eichel intercepted a pass from Calgary's Yegor Sharangovich taking the puck all the way in to give Vegas two. Jacob Middleton cut Vegas' deficit in half in the second period, but it wasn’t long before the Golden Knights were back up with a Braeden Bowman power-play goal. Ivan Barbashev set up Bowman with a pass in the slot, allowing Bowman to fire home the shot that trickled past Wolf.

The third frame brought more results for Vegas as Mark Stone tipped in their fourth, fifth, and sixth goals for the natural hat trick in the period. Stone tallied his first goal of the period just over a minute in, tapping in the back door pass from Eichel. The captain's second goal came with 7:50 remaining in the frame banking home the rebound on a shot from Noah Hanifin. Stone's second career hat trick was completed just four minutes later with help from Eichel and Marner. Matt Coronato secured a second goal for Calgary, but ultimately the Golden Knights came out on top with a 6-2 win. Carter Hart earned his fourth win in net, stopping 28 of 30 saves for a .933 save percentage.
