The Vegas Golden Knights (8-2-0) dominated the Pittsburgh Penguins (3-5-1) to the tune of a 6-2 decision on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
Within a minute into the first period, defenseman Rasmus Andersson opened the scoring with a tight snap shot, assisted by Jack Eichel and Mark Stone. Nearly three minutes later, Noah Hanifin doubled the lead with his second goal of the season, Eichel and Stone contributing once again. After a penalty call against Sidney Crosby late in the period, Captain Mark Stone nets his first of the match with ten seconds left on the power play late in the first period, assisted by rookie Trevor Connelly and Mitch Marner. The Penguins struck back in the second period off a power play. Less than two minutes later, Connelly buries a shot on an unassisted breakaway, top corner, to put Vegas back up by three, with his fourth goal of the season. Shea Theodore gets one on the board for his second of the season, with assists from Brayden McNabb and William Karlsson to make it 5-1 in the second frame.
The final period kicks off with the Penguins scoring their second of the match, with a goal from Ville Koivunen. Vegas closes off the match with an unassisted empty net goal by Brett Howden, for his fourth goal in his last six games.
