Ahead of the 2020 NHL Draft, Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald gave his opinion of several top prospects in this year's draft class. The Devils hold three first-round picks and may have the opportunity to add one of these players to the franchise.

On Swedish right wing Alexander Holtz…
"He's a pure goal scorer. He's got the great shot, skates well, I would call him a North to South type player. He does his best work in stride going North. He find opens seams and open areas in the offensive zone. And when he does find space, it doesn't take him too long to get that great shot off. He's the best pure goal scorer in the draft. That's fact. So he's a great young player."
On Austrian center Marco Rossi…
"He's a great 200-foot player. He's a small player, he's five foot nine, but he's thick, he's got a strong lower body. He's got great leverage, strong stick, he protects pucks extremely well. He takes a lot of pride, his play away from the puck. His coach has compared him to Nico [Hischier] … and that's a great comp. I think the biggest thing I take away from that comment is the pride that he takes away from the puck. He's played the majority, if not all of his junior career as a center, and that's what he's getting drafted as a center…he's a good 200 foot centerman."
On Swedish left wing Lucas Raymond…
"He's more dynamic than Holtz, he's probably more of an East-to-West player. He's got more quickness, not the goalscorer that Holtz is but can score. He can drive offense, play coming through the neutral zone with the puck, carrying into the zone, pulling up, making late plays. He's gotten stronger, he's gotten bigger. We're able to watch him now, and watch him in his league and see how well he's doing and how adjusted he is to play in the men's league over [in Sweden] versus what he did in the past."
On Canadian defenseman Jamie Drysdale…
"What I love about Drysdale is just his hockey sense, the way he played in the World Juniors and took pride in a different spot…but he was asked to do something different at the World Juniors, he accepted it and did it and did it well. He takes a lot of pride in being able to make the first pass, transitional passer, if need be he can skate it through the neutral zone. He's got a really good shot. He sees the ice really well. He's a really good offensive defenseman.
On American defenseman Jake Sanderson…
"Sanderson, he's obviously came on really really strong here at the second half…He's a 6'1 and a half, very mobile defenseman who can defend, can transition with the puck, he'll end up being one of those 25 minute a night guys because of how well he skates."
