Hailing from a family of athletes, his eldest brother Morgan was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes and currently plays for the Seattle Kraken, while his other older brother, Noah, plays baseball for the Emporia State University Hornets. Geekie's father Craig also played in the WHL as a defenseman with the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Several draft analysts have Geekie as a productive NHLer in the future, although not necessarily as a top-line player. Cut from a similar stature to his brother Morgan, Conor has a mixture of both size and skill to balance. Geekie uses his large 6-4 frame well in protecting the puck, and has the offensive skillset and smarts, Geekie's biggest upside is those offensive skills, and certainly his size, something that is oft coveted by NHL general managers building their teams.
An area holding him back from potentially being a big impact player is his skating skills, which have been said to be average at the Western Hockey League level. How that will translate to NHL success remains an area with the biggest question mark that could impact where he is selected in the upcoming draft.
