Capitals Recall Samsonov from Hershey

Washington Capitals have recalled goaltender Ilya Samsonov from the Hershey Bears

The Washington Capitals have recalled goaltender Ilya Samsonov from the Hershey Bears, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

Samsonov, 22, has posted a record of 20-14-5 with a 2.70 goals against average and a .898 save percentage in 37 games with the Bears this season. The 6'2", 205-pound goaltender has recorded three shutouts and posted a 10-0-1 record from Jan. 12 through Feb. 27. Samsonov made 49 saves on 52 shots in his AHL playoff debut yesterday against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The Capitals teamed up with local artist to create ALLCAPS murals across the community

The Capitals have partnered with local artists to install murals across several neighborhoods within Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Fans are invited to visit Capitals-themed murals throughout the region in celebration of the 2019 Stanley Cup® Playoffs. Stay tuned for updates to locations and more murals around the community. 

In addition, the Capitals will install a community mural at Ludlow-Taylor Elementary School in Washington, D.C. on April 14.

The Washington Capitals have recalled forward Devante Smith-Pelly from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL) and re-assigned goaltender Vitek Vanecek to Hershey, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

Smith-Pelly, 26, has recorded eight points (4g, 4a) in 54 games with the Capitals this season. In 20 games with Hershey, the 6'0", 223-pound forwarded recorded 14 points (6g, 8a), including a hat trick on March 10 against the Hartford Wolf Pack.
