Capitals have signed defenseman Alexander Alexeyev to a three-year entry-level contract

The Washington Capitals have signed defenseman Alexander Alexeyev to a three-year entry-level contract, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today. Alexeyev's contract will carry an average annual value of $925,000.

The Capitals selected Alexeyev with the 31st-overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft.

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation and the Elliot in the Morning Show announced today the third-consecutive So Kids Can Starting Lineup Auction. The auction features the opportunity for the winner to meet Capitals head coach Todd Reirden and determine the starting lineup. The winner will then announce the starters to the team in the Capitals locker room prior to the preseason game against the St. Louis Blues on Sunday, Sept. 30. 

All proceeds will benefit The Heart of America Foundation.

Washington Capitals right wing Tom Wilson participated in a playground designing session with three- to five-year-old children from Bright Beginnings in southeast Washington, D.C., on Sept. 17. Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, the charitable arm of the Washington Capitals, is funding an MSE-themed playground in partnership with KaBOOM! to be built at the Bright Beginnings Pre-K 3/4 Center in November. The play space will feature logos from the Washington Capitals, Wizards and Mystics, along with the Capital City Go-Go.
