The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated center Sean Kuraly off Injured Reserve and placed defenseman Zach Werenski on Injured Reserve retroactive to November 12, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Kuraly, 29, has missed the past two games with an upper body injury suffered on November 5 vs. Colorado. He has recorded two goals and two assists for four points with two penalty minutes and 14 shots in 12 games with the Blue Jackets this season. The 6-2, 213-pound center has totaled 16-18-34 and 63 PIM in 89 contests with Columbus since signing as a free agent on July 28, 2021. Born in Niagara Falls, New York, he has registered 40-62-102 and 197 PIM in 359 career games with the Blue Jackets and Boston Bruins since making his NHL debut in 2016-17.
Werenski, 25, suffered a separated shoulder and torn labrum in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers and is expected to miss the rest of the regular season. He leads the team in time on ice and club blueliners in goals, assists (tied), points and shots with 3-5-8 and 41 shots, while averaging 23:35 of ice time in 13 appearances in 2022-23. The 6-2, 213-pound blueliner has totaled 79-166-245 and 93 PIM in 416 career games since making his NHL debut in 2016-17. A native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Werenski was selected by the club in the first round, eighth overall, at the 2015 NHL Draft.
