Mutala reecntly talked with ColoradoAvalanche.com about finding out he was drafted and his favorite hockey memories.
What was your favorite hockey memory growing up?
"My favorite memory was back in my first year of peewee. We were supposed to play a tournament in Winnipeg and my flight actually got delayed in Calgary, so my dad rented a car in Calgary and drove me overnight to Winnipeg and I actually made it right in time the next day for the game. It was a 12-hour drive and then I scored a hat trick that game."
Do you remember how you got into playing hockey?
"Probably from just watching the NHL at a young age. I was a big Canucks fan growing up, obviously being from Vancouver, and throughout the years I eventually fell in love with the game."
You were not at Rogers Arena during the draft so how did you find out that Colorado had selected you?
"I was with my mom, my girlfriend and my dad. It was great, I felt a big sigh of relief and stood up and gave my mom and dad a hug."
