A Win at Home

Five different Avs scored goals as the team defeated the Los Angeles Kings 5-2 on Tuesday at Ball Arena to extend its home win streak to 14 games. Jack Drury, Martin Necas, Brock Nelson, Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar all scored for Colorado, while Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced in net.

With its eighth-consecutive win, the Avalanche improved to 29-2-7.

How It Happened

Drury opened the scoring at 9:24 of the first period with his sixth goal of the season via a shot from the high slot.

"I liked him a lot tonight," Avalanche Head Coach Jared Bednar said about Drury. "I thought he was going right from the start. That line (Ross Colton-Drury-Victor Olofsson) was going. I thought they played with really good energy and did a nice job, not just on the attack and getting that goal, Colton strips [the puck from] a guy, makes a nice play on it, but on the defending side, too. They had some tough matchups tonight and did a nice job."

Corey Perry tied the game with a power-play goal at 5:15 of the second period via a redirection from the right doorstep.

The Avs took a 2-1 lead at 13:21 of the second period when Necas scored his 19th goal of the season by cleaning up a loose puck in the crease via a backhand shot.

Nelson doubled Colorado's lead at 17:30 of the second period with his 15th goal of the season via a right-circle top-shelf wrist shot off the rush.

Joel Armia made it a 3-2 game with a shorthanded goal at 4:58 of the third period via a shot from the high slot.

MacKinnon gave the Avs a 4-2 lead at 18:23 of the third period with his 32nd goal of the season via an empty-net tally.

At 19:15 of the third period, Makar made it 5-2 with his 12th goal of the season via a shot from the bottom of the right circle.
