As the 2022-23 season continues, the priority of giving back to the local community and spreading love and happiness continues around Valentine's Day.

Colorado Avalanche defensemen Bowen Byram and Andreas Englund spent their Monday afternoon sharing joy with the residents of the Hallmark Nursing Center, a local assisted living home.

The two participated in activities such as hockey goal shoot out with mini hockey net and sticks, Avalanche trivia and making Valentine's Day cards while also having wonderful conversations that included laughter throughout the entirety of the event.
"It was so much fun. You can see the smile on their faces, and they put a smile on my face too." Englund said. "They were chatting too, just having a good time. So that just made it a fun experience for me too."
It didn't take long to realize that no matter the age, fiery competitiveness and passion still lives within the Hallmark residents.
Whether it was the soon-to-be 100-year-old Canadian woman former hockey player, sending slap shots into the top corner of the net, to Curt, an Avs superfan and Avalanche trivia wizard, the drive was still there.

Byram hosted trivia and he came out of it astonished. Overall, the group answered almost every single question thrown their way. But these were not just easy questions. Some of the trivia questions included, "Who did the Avs play in their first game in Colorado and what was the score?" and "Who was the Avs' backup goalie in 2006?" to "Who did the Avalanche play in the 1996 Stanley Cup Finals?"
One man stood out to Byram, Curt.
"Yeah, it was funny. He was answering some pretty tough questions." Byram said. "He's getting them right, answering with guy's names that I didn't even know. So yeah, it's pretty funny. Cool to see people that are so invested in it."
