Team Canada also earned a shutout victory on Tuesday, skating to a decisive 10-0 win against Switzerland to remain undefeated and improve to 3-0-0 at the 2021 World Juniors.
Philip Tomasino tallied the only marker of the first period, 1:30 into the frame, but Canada's offense erupted in the final two stanzas. The team had four different goal scorers in the second period and added five more goals in the third. Quinton Byfield led the team with six points (two goals, four assists) and eight other skaters had two or more points.
Forward Alex Newhook registered two assists in the victory and defensemen Bowen Byram and Justin Barron were a plus-2 and plus-1, respectively, in the outing.
All of the Avalanche prospects have played in all three of Canada's games at the tournament. Newhook has five points (two goals, three assists), Barron has two assists and Byram also has two assists and a tournament-leading plus-12 rating.
Canada has the day off on Wednesday before concluding the preliminary round against Finland on Thursday.
