After acquiring the 22nd overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft in a trade with the Ottawa Senators, the New York Rangers selected defenseman K'Andre Miller.
Miller, 18, skated in 58 regular season and tournament games with the U.S. National U18 Team in the United States Development Program (USNTDP) this past season, registering nine goals and 20 assists for 29 points, along with a plus-23 rating and 26 penalty minutes. He ranked third among defensemen on the U.S. National U18 Team in goals, points, and plus/minus rating in 2017-18. In addition, Miller skated in 22 games with Team USA in the United States Hockey League (USHL) during the past season, registering 16 points (four goals, 12 assists) and a plus-13 rating. He led all defensemen on Team USA (min. two games played) - and ranked fifth among USHL defensemen - in points per game in 2017-18 (0.73). Miller was named the USHL Defenseman of the Week on Nov. 20, as he posted back-to-back, three-point games on Nov. 17 at Youngstown (three assists) and on Nov. 18 vs. Central Illinois (two goals, one assist). In September of 2017, he participated in the 2017 CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game.

The 6-3, 199-pounder has been a member of the USNTDP for each of the last two seasons (2016-17 and 2017-18). Miller skated in 54 regular season and tournament games with the U.S. National U17 Team in 2016-17, recording three goals and 14 assists for 17 points, along with 16 penalty minutes. In addition, he notched seven assists in 34 USHL games with Team USA during the 2016-17 season. Prior to joining the USNTDP, Miller played two seasons of high school hockey with Minnetonka High School in Minnesota (2014-15 and 2015-16). In his final season at Minnetonka High School, Miller registered five goals and 11 assists for 16 points, along with a plus-10 rating and 12 penalty minutes. He was named to the All-Lake Conference Team and the Star Tribune All-Metro Third Team in 2015-16, and he was the only sophomore who was named to any of the three All-Metro teams in the 2015-16 season.
Internationally, the St. Paul, Minnesota native has represented the United States in several tournaments. Most recently, Miller helped the United States earn a silver medal at the 2018 IIHF U18 World Championship, as he registered three points (one goal, two assists) and a plus-four rating in seven games. In addition, he represented the United States at the 2016 World U17 Challenge, the 2017 U18 Five Nations Tournament, the 2016 U17 Four Nations Tournament, and the 2017 U17 Five Nations Tournament. Miller has also been invited by USA Hockey to the 2018 World Junior Summer Showcase.
Entering the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Miller was ranked No. 23 on NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of North American skaters eligible for this year's Draft. He moved up eight slots from Central Scouting's midterm ranking to their final ranking (31 to 23). In addition, Miller has committed to attend the University of Wisconsin for his freshman year in 2018-19. At the 2018 NHL Scouting Combine, Miller led all participants in the Left Hand Grip (170 pounds) and the Right Hand Grip (180 pounds).
