About

The Pittsburgh Penguins Alumni Association is an important asset to the organization.

Members act as ambassadors and host events throughout the year that raise funds for local organizations and programs.

Alumni make special appearances at community events, teach hockey clinics, give speeches at team events, and sponsor a hockey-based scholarship every year.

Current Events And Programs

Golf Tournament and Summer Sticks

In 1998, the Penguins Alumni Association created the Alumni Charity Golf Classic to assist local children's charities. Since its inception, the event has raised over $740,000 for local non-profits.

In 2018, the alumni merged golf tournaments with the current Penguins team and combined their efforts to raise charitable funds with a new golf-themed event - Summer Sticks - Topgolf Edition. Proceeds from this event benefit the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation Scholarship program and alumni charities.

Scholarship Program

The Pittsburgh Penguins Alumni scholarship is presented annually to a western Pennsylvania high school senior for academic excellence and for providing leadership, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude as a member of their school's hockey program. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.2 to qualify for the scholarship. The scholarship, valued at $2,000, is co-sponsored by the NHL Alumni Association.

Trip to The Great White North

Each year, Penguins Alumni visit the Yukon Territory in Northwest Canada. Visiting 10 to 20 communities on the annual trip, Penguins Alumni hold youth hockey clinics, attend assemblies at local schools, and play in charity games.
