Bio

Tom Barrasso Bio

Barrasso is the only goalie to enter the NHL straight from high school, and he's arguably the best 18-year-old goalie in League history, as well as a two-time Stanley Cup champion.

The Buffalo Sabres selected Barrasso in the first round (No. 5) of the 1983 NHL Draft after he went 22-0 with one tie at Acton-Boxborough High School in Massachusetts. Not only did Barrasso make the Sabres, he was voted winner of the Vezina Trophy as the top goalie in the NHL and the Calder Trophy as best rookie after going 26-12 with three ties, a 2.85 goals-against average and .893 save percentage, third in the NHL among goalies who played at least half of their team's games.
