Perry & the Oilers look to keep building against the Kings

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: GAME OVER! Stuart Skinner holds down the fort with 32 saves to lead Edmonton to two big points over the Kings in a 4-1 victory, growing their lead on their rivals for second in the Pacific Division to five points with 11 games to play.

We just might be seeing these Black & White from California for a third straight time in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but that remains to be seen. For now, the Oilers have a huge home victory after Draisaitl (3A), McDavid (1G, 2A) and Bouchard (1G, aA) contributed multi-point game.

Edmonton is back on home ice Saturday afternoon against the Anaheim Ducks.

40.9: CODY CECI WRAPS IT UP WITH A FULL-ICE EMPTY-NETTER! 4-1!

6:13: The Kings get on the board. Arthur Kaliyev gets a pass in between the circles that he one-times past Skinner into the left side of Edmonton's net to spoil the shutout. 3-1.

10:10: STUUUUU! Skinner stops Dubois on a two-on-one near the midway mark by squeezing his shot underneath the left arm before coming across to take away a wrap-around from Arthur Kaliyev not long after. He's stopped all 21 shots so far from LA through nearly 50 minutes of action.

14:15: BOUCH BOMB TOP SHELF! Connor McDavid finds his defenceman for a one-timer in the right circle that's delivered top shelf for a 3-0 lead. Draisaitl and McDavid each get their second helper of the game, while Bouchard now has a goal and assist.

Bouchard blasts home a one-timer for the 3-0 Oilers lead

15:18: Hyman draws the call this time with a hooking penalty to Matt Roy.

18:29: Zach Hyman takes Mikey Anderson into the Kings' net with a bit of a cross-check and the officials call it for interference.

20:00: The third period is underway!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: AFTER 2 | Edmonton 2, Los Angeles 0.

15.8: BANK SHOT OFF HENRIQUE! Leon Draisaitl rounds the net and fires a high backhand into the danger area that goes in off the chest of Henrique for a 2-0 Oilers lead late in the second period. For a fairly quiet middle frame, the last minute makes up for it with a big save from Skinner and Henrique's 23rd of the year.

Henrique extends the Oilers lead to 2-0 in the second period

59.6: The middle frame was almost without action until Stuart Skinner made a fast double save on Anze Kopitar after Adrian Kempe set up his linemate for two good chances in front – one while falling to the ice and causing a major scramble around the Oilers crease that they clear.

20:00: The second period is underway!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: AFTER 1 | Edmonton 1, Los Angeles 0.

5:49: Alex Laferriere takes two minutes for slashing Vincent Desharnais, sending the Oilers to their second power play.

14:23: THE CAPTAIN STRIKES FIRST! Connor McDavid knocks down Mattias Ekholm's point shot in front before burying the rebound on a backhand to make it 1-0 and reach 120 points for the third time in his career.

McDavid knocks down Ekholm's shot & scores for his 120th point

15:01: Leon Draisaitl looked to have drawn a tripping call on Blake Lizotte, but an undisciplined slash to the back of his right leg evens up the call to four-on-four.

18:20: A hard hit from Evander Kane on Drew Doughty is called for tripping after the defenceman's legs were taken out behind the net.

20:00: GAME ON!

20:00: The first period will begin at 7:07 p.m. MT at Rogers Place.
