Capitals top Canadiens with two third-period goals

Devante Smith-Pelly scored the tiebreaking goal with 5:54 left in the third period, and the Washington Capitals defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 at Bell Centre.
Charles Hudon at 1:16 and Max Pacioretty at 11:37 scored second-period goals for Montreal to tie it 2-2. Jonathan Drouin had an assist on Pacioretty's goal.
Evgeny Kuznetsov at 5:07 and Jakub Vrana at 9:52 gave Washington a 2-0, first-period lead. Alex Ovechkin had an assist on Vrana's goal. The first four goals were on a power play. Tom Wilson scored an empty-net goal, with Kuznetsov getting his second assist. Carey Price made eight saves playing the first 29:22 for Montreal. Philipp Grubauer made 20 playing the same time for Washington.
