Radim Vrbata scored a tiebreaking goal in the second period, and the Arizona Coyotes defeated the San Jose Sharks 3-1 in a preseason game Friday.
Vrbata scored 8:48 into second, after teammate Tony DeAngelo scored with 6:12 left in the first period to tie the game 1-1. Coyotes captain Shane Doan scored with 11 seconds left in the third. Joonas Donskoi scored 3:37 into the first period for San Jose. Coyotes goalie Mike Smith made 29 saves. Martin Jones made 20 saves for the Sharks.
