Max Pacioretty made it 5-2 when he scored into an empty net at 19:01.
The Canadiens' three-goal outburst came after they gave up a 2-0 lead.
"I think we're in a better place now than we were early in the season in situations like that," Montreal coach Claude Julien said. "We stayed the course and with that big goal from Gallagher we found a way to recover."

Alex Galchenyuk scored his 10th goal, and Karl Alzner had a goal and an assist for his first multipoint game with the Canadiens (18-20-4), who had lost five straight in regulation before a 2-1 shootout win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.
"The last couple of games have been two of our better games this year," Gallagher said. "So hopefully after the break we come back and have the same mindset."
Carey Price, who missed practice Saturday because of the flu, made 34 saves for Montreal, which scored five goals in its previous six games.
"We went through a dry spell like I've never really experienced around here before, but hopefully we're out of it," Gallagher said.
Daniel Sedin had a goal and an assist, and Michael Del Zotto scored for Vancouver (16-20-6), which lost the second of back-to-back games for the first time this season (3-1-0).
Anders Nilsson made 40 saves for the Canucks, who have lost four straight (0-3-1), including a 3-2 shootout loss at the Toronto Maple Leafs to begin a seven-game road trip Saturday.

"Our effort yesterday was really good, it was our best game in a while, and we were expecting the same tonight, and we didn't get that tonight," Sedin said. "But if the effort is there, we'll get a result. And I think we saw yesterday that we can be a good team, but it has to be better than tonight."
Alzner gave Montreal a 1-0 lead with his first goal in more than a year, at 9:39 of the first period. His shot from the left side deflected off Vancouver defenseman Troy Stecher's stick for his first goal in 88 games -- 42 with Montreal this season -- since Jan. 1, 2017, for the Washington Capitals in a 2-1 win against the Ottawa Senators.
Galchenyuk made it 2-1 with his fifth power-play goal, at 2:12 of the second period.
Sedin deflected Alex Edler's shot from the point past Price for his ninth goal at 13:04 to draw Vancouver within 2-1.
Del Zotto tied it at 2-2 with his second goal at 2:47 of the third period when he took a pass in the slot from Brock Boeser and deked to put a backhand between Price's legs.
"We weren't happy with our play the first two periods but going into the third, we said, 'we're still in this hockey game, we've got a chance for the two points,' " Del Zotto said. "We come back and tie it up, we've got to find a way to at least come out with one point there. A disappointing game for us tonight, especially after how we played yesterday."
