Auston Matthews Jason Kidd

Auston Matthews just picked up another Olympic jersey — an NBA one, this time.

The Toronto Maple Leafs captain met with NBA legend Jason Kidd after Saturday’s Maple Leafs game at Scotiabank Arena, and the two Olympic gold medalists swapped jerseys to commemorate the moment.

As captain of Team USA, Matthews helped lead the team to the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, its first gold medal since 1980.

Kidd earned his own basketball gold medal with Team USA at the 2000 Games in Sydney, then won another one at the 2008 Beijing Games as part of the famous “Redeem Team.”

The 10-time NBA All-Star and Basketball Hall of Famer played 19 seasons in the NBA, from 1994 until 2013. He now serves as head coach for the Dallas Mavericks, a team he helped to the NBA championship in 2011 as a player.
