The Winning Ticket of a Lifetime

A custom 14-karat white and yellow gold ring with 230 round diamonds, 22 princess cut diamonds, 28 custom taper-cut rubies, seven custom-cut star-shaped rubies and one star-shaped sapphire is not something the average person gets to wear in a lifetime. But for one lucky Caps fan, it will be.

Back in October when Jostens unveiled the 2018 Stanley Cup Championship Ring, the Capitals announced that someone would have the opportunity to win the official player ring through entering a charity fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation.
When entering the fundraiser, Bob Brown, a season ticket member since the 2007-08 season, never imagined he'd actually win when he purchased 150 numbers back in November.
"I didn't ever think it was a possibility," he said. "My brother said he saw my name and what he thought was the winning ticket number on the website. I still didn't believe it, so I had him text me a screenshot while I looked up my numbers."

In addition to receiving the official player ring with his name engraved on it, Brown also won two tickets in the owner's box to a Caps game where he'll be presented the ring by owner Ted Leonsis on Feb. 26.
"It's like two Christmases, a birthday, and a Mardi Gras all rolled into one," Brown said. "In all seriousness though, I am completely humbled to have the same ring that the players gave their blood, sweat, and tears to earn for themselves."
The fundraiser raised a total of $155,875 for the foundation and had over 2,600 people enter.
"We are so grateful to all the Caps fans who entered the Championship Ring Fundraiser," says Elizabeth Pace, Executive Director of MSE Foundation. "I'm always awed by the strong support from fans across the U.S. and Canada, but it's also nice to see a local season ticket member win the ring."
