Steelers HC McCarthy Pens game

Mike McCarthy received a warm welcome home.

The Pittsburgh Steelers head coach watched the Pittsburgh Penguins battle against in-state rivals the Philadelphia Flyers at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday.

Penguins fans gave McCarthy a loud ovation as he was shown on the arena video board and the NFL coach waved to the crowd.

The Steelers hired McCarthy as their new head coach on Jan. 24. McCarthy coached the Green Bay Packers from 2006-2017, leading the team to a victory in Super Bowl XLV against the Steelers. He coached the Dallas Cowboys from 2020-24.

McCarthy was born and raised in Pittsburgh and grew up a Steelers fan.
