Jake Muzzin earned bragging rights in the Los Angeles Kings locker room thanks to his dog Daryl.
Daryl Muzzin defeated Gustl Kopitar, Dodger Toffoli and Emma Pearson in a race during the first intermission of Los Angeles' game against the St. Louis Blues at Staples Center.

"We were pretty nervous," Muzzin's wife Courtney said in a post-race interview. "We've been training all week." While the other dogs were distracted at the outset, Daryl took off for a wire-to-wire victory. Gustl, perhaps the best known thanks to his noteworthy social media account, finished second. Emma and Dodger each did not finish after they sprinted away from the finish line.
"This is the coldest [Dodger] has ever been," Toffoli's fiancée Cat Belanger said. "It was cute though." Dodger need not feel bad, because she and her fellow racers were a main part of the Kings' Stick Up For Animals Day. Besides the race, fans could purchase Kings canine calendars and dog face T-shirts or bid in the dog bowl auction, with proceeds of each benefitting the spcaLA.
